MODPODS

Studio II in Architecture 2022

Home Economics

Instructor - Matthew Parker

Adopting a 100 year mortgage financial model, this project attempts to alleviate the financial burden of high mortgage payments normally experienced by
homeowners in Vancouver.
The ability to consolidate and modify pods over time will accomodate for the changing living dynamics associated with long term ownership.

Location - Vancouver, BC

Software - Blender, Rhino, Illustrator

PROGRAM DIAGRAMS

Scaffolding acts as the rigid structure, within which softer bodied pods are constructed. New pods can be constructed above existing ones and can be connected by temporarily installed vertical circulation. As a larger amount of living space is accumulated over time, options to divide pods, co-own or rent out extra spaces are available to maintain reasonable housing costs.
